Home Zone, Clackmanshire - Concept

The brief for this site was to develop a user-friendly residential scheme in order for the developer to make a formal bid for this council owned site.

The 'Home Zone' attempts to strike a balance between vehicular traffic and everyone else who uses the street, the pedestrians, cyclists, business people and residents.

The tight streetscapes, focal corner buildings and shared parking bays/parking courts all attempt to slow the speed of the traffic down, reclaiming the streets from the traditional domination by the car.

The success of a Home Zone scheme is not just dependant on effective and well thought out plans, but also requires the whole community being encouraged to get involved from the start.
