Randle White were employed to develop a concept plan for this site off the A500 by a local North West housing developer
Sandwiched between the busy dual carriageway and the elevated Trent and Mersey Canal the commercial element of the site was located to act a buffer and acoustic barrier to the residential units to the North East of the site.
With the existing access to be retained a new tree lined avenue would be introduced to run parallel to the A500, which separates the commercial/industrial units from the residential belt. New pedestrian links would be incorporated into the development to allow for access across the canal and out into the existing landscape beyond.
Currently occupied by a scrap yard this Brownfield site provides an interesting topography and with current ongoing refurbishment to properties along the opposite bank of the canal the new residential units to the North of the site would have a much-improved aspect over time.
